No hot water? There are a few components we see on a proper water heater installation.  Shutoff valve and an expansion tank on the cold water line.  The expansion tank can be anywhere on your cold water main line, but typically we see it near the water heater.  Earthquake straps secure the water heater in place during the event of an earthquake, reducing the chances of the unit moving and breaking the water lines.  Stands help get the water heater off the ground and come in various sizes.  Water heater pans collect water from the pressure relief valve discharging.  Inside an electric water heater you can service thermostats and elements.  Inside a gas water heater you can service a thermocouple, the burner and on the outside there is the gas control valve assembly.  If you are experiencing hot water issues, contact Hydro Plumbing for a water heater installation, water heater replacement or water heater repair.  Ask us about tankless water heaters if you are interested.

Water heaters flow a lot of water though them in order to keep up with your daily hot water needs.  All of that water leave residue and build up on the internal components and piping of the water heater.  The stuff that doesn't stick begins accumulating at the bottom of the tank.  The tank itself can only hold water for so long before it also fails.  All of that hot water being mixed with sludge and debris at the bottom of the water heater is not the best thing to apply to your showers, laundry and dishes.  A water heater flush service may get rid of some debris, a water heater replacement is best way to ensure a clean hot water system.  Not only is clean hot water important, having hot water is as well.  If your water heater is making noises, signs of corrosion or rust, not producing as hot of water are all sign that you need to call Hydro Plumbing for a free estimate.

Tankless hot water heater installations are a little more involved than a tanked unit because typically we are converting from a tanked system to a tankless system.  A tankless water heater replacement would be faster than a tanked water heater replacement if they were strictly the same replacement.  Taking out a tanked water heater and installing a tankless hot water heater costs more than if there was already a tankless unit there.  There will most likely need to be a larger wire or gas line and or a relocation of the lines as well for the conversion to tankless.  Tankless water heaters mount or are installed differently than a tanked unit, there will need to be some modification to the area to mount the tankless unit to the wall in comparison to the old unit on the ground.  The water lines coming in and going out may also need to be relocated to accommodate the tankless unit.  Not really that big of a deal or any major construction going on here to make these things happen but it is more than the standard tanked replacement.  Once converted to a tankless water heater the future services will be much quicker.  The tankless water heater is much smaller than the tanked units, saving a lot of space.  You will not run out of hot water with a tankless unit unless there is a problem with the water heater.  The idea of only using the water heater when the hot water is turned on seems more efficient that constantly running to keep a tank up to temperature.  There are pros and cons to anything, weigh them out and let us know if we can assist you with a tankless water heater installation, tankless water heater replacement, or tankless water heater repair at Hydro Plumbing.
